Why our Governor-General is no stranger to tying knots

While in Darwin this week, Their Excellencies, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Ms Nichole Vincent, Chief Commissioner, visited Scouts Australia’s Northern Territory Branch in Howard Springs, Northern Territory.

Both members of Scouts Australia, Their Excellencies joined young Joeys, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and Rovers of NT in different activities designed to encourage teamwork, creative problem solving and communication.

Our G-G is no stranger to tying knots.  He’s been the Chief Scout of Scouts Australia NSW since 2014.

In fact, in April of this year, the then Governor of NSW launched an ambitious four-year strategy for Scouts NSW, heralding a new approach to Scouting across the State.

Boasting 70,000 members, Scouts Australia is one of the largest youth development organisations in the nation.

Run by local volunteers, Scouts Australia has been delivering an essential service to Australian young people for 111 years:  learning skills for life through our unique, active, fun, outdoors experiences.
