Turns out even if the vast majority of your dinners are cooked by world-class chefs, still nothing beats the local chippy.
Like the rest of us, Her Majesty can’t resist indulging while on holiday.
And word has it the Queen’s cheat meal of choice when stayings at Balmoral Castle is none other than a fish and chip takeaway.
“She very occasionally treats herself to fish and chips when at Balmoral,” shared a royal insider.
While the monarch has a chef who prepares her daily meals while she enjoys her summer holidays at the Scottish estate, she enjoys the popular indulgence on occasion just as much as the next person.
Back in the day royal chef Darren McGrady claimed that Her Majesty is “not a foodie at all” and prefers throwing dinners to actually eating them.
“She eats to live; it's Prince Philip that lives to eat. He loves food, he's interested in food, he wants to know where it comes from. The Queen, not so much.”
Apparently the Duke of Edinburgh “loves to eat and would stand and talk food all day”.
Chef McGrady, who previously worked at Buckingham Palace as one of 20 chefs, was full bottle on the Queen’s hosting habits.
“She'd oversee the full menu, choose what she wanted – do we have enough pheasant, grouse, partridge? She loved food from the estate and to see her own produce on the menu.”
“She loved the hosting side of the event. Garden parties were huge we'd have to do so much food, scones and pastries, ice cream made fresh.”
Mr McGrady also outed Her Majesty as a “chocoholic”, claiming her favourite dessert was 'chocolate perfection pie' – a pastry case lined with meringue, cinnamon and chocolate cream.
